Never Make A Left Hand Turn

The girl who wasn’t in the orange grove any longer felt like an adult. After all, she was 18, and had a boyfriend. She now had a car, one that she cleaned meticulously every day. The bucket seats in that 78 Buick Skylark were spotless. But that same, spotless car would often quit in the middle of an intersection. Or when she was making a left turn. Granny, who had taught her how to drive, warned her never to make a left hand turn if there was a choice. She said “you drive for miles if you have to. Left turns aren’t worth it.” And well, she was right. She never made a left hand turn all of her life after that.

The boyfriend soon decided that he wanted to play the field. He didn’t care she had moved from that orange grove. Their talks of getting married and having kids, three in fact, was no more. There she sat, crying with extra napkins she had taken from Taco Bell. And she knew she had made a mistake. What was she doing? Who was she to think that she knew what she was doing? Feeling alone and being physically alone are both separate feelings. But being alone, in both of the ways in Italy now, remind her of this time, all of those years ago. She vowed then to play it safe. Never to take risks. To truly make her family love her again. And she sat and cried and watched her black and white TV. That left hand turn in life had really cost her.

Message: we all make decisions in life that prove to be harder than we thought! We wish we could do this project on our own, but we ask for you support today if you enjoyed this blog and our content!
If you have been following our journey, you may know us from the blog, 2 Traveling Dogs. We have used our many platforms for animal rescue and healing people along the way. This project in Italy is overwhelming and we simply can’t do it alone. We would love to have your support with any amount here! Thank you so much.
