A Frivolous Endeavor?

This weekend, we finally put the finishing touches on the bat house we made. It took us way longer than what we anticipated. As everything always does.

With everything going on in the world right now, it may seem frivolous and ridiculous to some to make a bat house. Especially the way we went about it, because we even made the lumber that we used to save money and not be wasteful. A frivolous endeavor in the midst of world chaos? I do not think this is true.

Humans have long thought that we are the most

Important beings on this earth. And even beyond this earth. But we do seem to have the most

Impact. In either hurting or helping others. And we believe it often comes down to the smallest of choices, and choices we don’t think matter. Our choices do matter. And especially when it comes to the ones we are supposed to take care of, like the bats.

With a house that needs so much work, and more work we don’t even know yet, we knew that if we didn’t set out time ahead for our first love in helping animals and people, that this would get overlooked.

No, we don’t have electricity yet or ample running water. In fact, as of last week, we don’t even have hot water.

Hopefully by the no of this week we can pick up our heater and afford plumbing supplies. But for now, a cold shower outside just isn’t the end of the world. It just isn’t.

I’m often amazed about what people consider frivolous endeavors. I’m often amazed at how important we think that we are. I believe in my heart, especially with the situation we have been in for the last few months up here on top of the mountain, that if you take care of the living creatures, you will be taken care of. You may not know how. Or when. But bats? Our house is your house. And we hope you like your spacious house too.

Our current project this week is still getting Brickle’s resting place cleaned and flowers planted. This isn’t a little project. No, not at all.

The winter was hard and wet, and Brickle deserves more honor to his life. He would want to help others still, like he did his whole life. Not, he will be taking care of the bees and bugs and butterflies. Frivolous? No.

The world is in chaos because of people, not the animals and the living creatures that make our lives worth living. Don’t forget about them. They need us.

If you’d like to help us with our goals this week, we would love and appreciate your support! Seeds, plants, supplies, groceries, they are all needed,
