Mind Over Laundry

The last few weeks have been pretty dreary here in our part of Italy. Often, when we take a walk thru “the neighborhood”, we are the only ones there. It’s quite an odd feeling to be in a place where you feel like an outsider but at home at the same time.  I know right before March, this place will be bustling again. I don’t know if I’m ready for that!

We have figured out that day to day living is taking most of our time. And things have to get easier. But until we get our paperwork back and test results back that allow us to stay longer, we are reluctant to make big purchases or make big changes. Not that we have the time or resources for that right now anyway! Today, and the last few days, I have been trying to get organized. Get a focus. Do more animal rescue work. Change the sheets. Yes. That alone will take me all day.

I remember the days when I used to think it was a chore to strip the beds and start a washing machine and dryer. Now, it’s buckets and lien drying on racks and trees. If anyone walked up on the house and saw everything hanging everywhere today, they would run far away and or just slip down the path. Probably would be faster that way.

I find myself going to bed earlier than j ever have in my life. Because I’m physically more tired than ever. But I am also starting to see how this may work out. I’m also starting to see us making progress. I’m also starting to realize I can only do so much every day. We can only do so much every day. And we have to give ourselves permission to embrace the small victories. Like clean sheets.
